SOLE - The International Society of Logistics is a non-profit international professional society composed of individuals organized to enhance the art and science of logistics technology, education and management.

SOLE was founded in 1966 as the Society of Logistics Engineers "to engage in educational, scientific, and literary endeavors to advance the art of logistics technology and management." There are over 90 SOLE chapters in more than 50 countries throughout the world. Chapters conduct technical meetings, symposia and workshops, all designed to provide the SOLE member with opportunities for professional advancement. Chapters and districts also sponsor regional technical meetings.

SOLE 2008 KEYNOTE SPEAKER CONFIRMATION SOLE 2008 KEYNOTE SPEAKER CONFIRMATION - SOLE is pleased and honored to announce the addition of Dr. Bernard D. Rostker to SOLE 2008's rank of distinguished speakers and participants. Dr. Rostker, who last served in the Department of Defense as the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, is going to serve both as a keynote speaker plenary and panel participant. In addition to serving as Under Secretary of Defense, Dr. Rostker has also served as Under Secretary of the Army and Assistant Secretary of the Navy. Other notable contributions to the nation have been service as Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense for Gulf War Illnesses, where he directed the Task Force that examined the etiology of the phenomenon affecting our Gulf War veterans; and his service as the first Director of the Selective Service after the creation of the all-volunteer force, leading the establishment of the new processes to support registration and draft needs. Dr. Rostker, a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, is also the author of the 2006 seminal work on the all-volunteer force, "I Want You! The Evolution of the All-Volunteer Force."
